Q:  How long after subscribing does it take to get selections?

A: Upon paying for your subscription, you have immediate access to the Forecasts, Programs and handicapping tools you have paid for. We post the programs and forecasts to the site by 8 PM (central) the night before before the next day's races.

Q:  The DRS Forecast does not pick a winner on top every time. How can I use DRS to pick more winners?

A: Most players think the object of handicapping is to pick more winners.
This is, in fact, is not true. The object of effective handicapping is to pick winners that are overlays -- or winners at a higher payout price.

The DRS Forecast gives handicappers the edge on finding those overlays.
For example, review the Results for Saturday March 19, 2011 at Tampa Bay Downs.

Wagering $2 to win on the public's top three favorites  (after all these horses are considered to have the best chance of winning, correct?) means you would have wagered 3 x $2 x 12 races for a total of $72 wagered.  The Results show you would have won 8 of these races and collected $51.20 for a total loss of -$20.80 or a negative return of -28%.

Using the DRS Forecast and wagering on the top 3 forecasted positions, you would have won the same number of races -- but these 8 races collected $97.20 for a profit of $25.20 or an ROI of +35%.

Of course, this is a simple exercise based on going 3 deep for win bets only. For more exotic wagers, please consult the DRS Wagering Matrix by clicking here. Whether it is win bets, exactas or trifectas, remember these two words:

OVERLAYS & PATIENCE.

Q: Is DailyRacingSheets.com (DRS) a wagering site?

A: No. DRS is an informational, subscription based service only.

Q: What is the best web browser to use with DRS?

A: DRS does not work well with Internet Explorer 5, 6 or 7.

We highly recommend you use the free open source browser Firefox, available at http://www.getfirefox.com

Q: What race tracks do you carry?

A: DRS publishes forecasts for thoroughbred races at tracks in North America, only.  Every day, a Program & PP, DRS Forecast & PP, HYO Forecast & PP, and Results & Payouts from the previous day are published for 8-15 tracks. The list of tracks in a given year are ranked by Track Class here. On busy days, DRS may publish as many as 22 tracks. DRS has been publishing daily since 2006.

Q: How many letter size pages do I need to print per track?

A: Generally speaking approximately one page per 2 races.  A track with 10 races will print out in 4-5 pages printed on 8.5x11 paper vertically, depending on the number of horses per race.  A custom search can produce one or more pages of results for you to print, depending on the number of races that meet your search criteria. Click here for a 4 page PDF of the Oct 30, 2010 DRS Forecast for Belmont Park.

Q: Why do you claim you have the easiest to read format?

A: Because the DRS format packs 37 factors onto one easy-to-read line per horse, including all program data, DRS wins/1000, balanced odds, jockey/trainer, plus surface, distance and Speed/Class rating for up to 9 past performances.  All of this is conveniently bundled inside a color coded grid bounded by 17 race condition factors. DRS ensures you have all the contextual data necessary to make smarter bets faster, on half a sheet of paper, per race. The How To Read section of the site has one sheet PDF maps of DRS's formatting for Programs, Forecasts and Results sheets.

Add to this the Search feature (available to Basic and Advanced Subscribers), and handicappers can print custom Program/Forecasts for advanced criteria such as time of day, track class and number of horses per race…for even easier to read and use handicapping tools.

Oftentimes, it is knowing which races to not wager that drive a high ROI day at the track.

Q: Do I have to have a DRS User Account prior to paying for a daily, weekly, monthly or annual subscription?

A:  Yes.

A DRS User account is free for all who register their user name and email. You are emailed an activation link that you click on to activate your free user account. Please check your spam folder if you do not see your Activation Email from DRS within 10 minutes of registering for your free account. When you sign up for your free account you can opt in for periodic email updates and specials from DRS. All DRS users have free access to the Programs and Past Performances, DRS Results, and HYO Results.

Q: Do Subscribers have access to all the Forecasts for all the tracks posted each day?

A: Yes.

DRS is a time based subscription service, with unlimited access to all the sheets for every track and day posted plus archives (older than 10 days), back to 2007, via the Search tool.

Q: How does DRS handle scratches?

A: Advanced Subscribers may manually submit and save Scratches on the Fly. Upon making your Scratches on the Fly, your Forecast will recalculate and display new wins/1000, balanced odds and a new finishing position Forecast, instantly.

Within the HYO Forecast you will see the options on a far left column to check a horse to scratch.  Check the boxes for the horses you wish to scratch, then press Submit Scratches. You can check a horse in 1 or more races and hit any Submit Scratches button and each race will be reconfigured accordingly. Once you have submitted them, they will remain that way until you uncheck the box(es) and resubmit scratches. You can close the sheet down and refer back to it and it will retain your scratches for your user account.

Q: What is HYO?

A: HYO stands for Handicap Your Own. HYO tools are available all DRS free registered users. These tools include the ability to calibrate the Speed/Class blend profile of a Forecast by changing the weighted relative value for seven class traits and six speed traits within an HYO Results DRS sheet. Upon adjusting these weightings the user is able to manipulate the forecasted finishing positions for the horses in each race, in real time, right there on the screen.

Advanced Subscribers can save unlimited number of custom calibration profiles. The one you leave as the Active Profile within these HYO Results pages/configurations, is the blend profile that will drive your own personal HYO Forecast on upcoming races. You can always reset your HYO Forecast to mirror the stock DRS Speed/Class calibrations and you can alter the DRS stock settings and Save As your own newly named Profile.

While anyone with a free user account can access these tools, only Advanced Subscribers can save these calibrations (unlimited number) and apply them to their own personal HYO Forecsast.  DRS makes the HYO Speed/Class calibration tools available to all users so that one can practice their own preferred blend of handicapping against results, prior to investing in the DRS Subscription.

Q: How do I access the HYO Speed/Class calibration tools?

A: They are accessed via the HYO Results -- hover over the bar at the very bottom of one of the HYO Results races. Then click on that bar.

Once inside that interface there's a series of Speed and Class rankings per past performance trait or column.  You adjust the weighting values here and upon re-calibrating the blends, you can see how your adjustments impact the wins/1000 and HYO Odds, therefore the finishing position Forecast of all the horses.  This is performed within a Results sheet of any chose race, so you can compare actual finishing positions, final odds and payouts immediately. (See topic and images directly above.)
